Why home care

There’s no place like home

We understand that seniors and people with disabilities are most comfortable when they’re at home. United Home Care offers non-medical home care that gives dignity and self-respect to our clients, while allowing them to safely remain in their homes — and not be forced to move into a nursing facility.

From a single afternoon a week to around-the-clock support, care is personalized to exactly what each person needs.

The basics

What is home care?

In-home care — also known as home care — is non-medical care provided in the client’s own home. It includes custodial care and assistance with the activities of daily living, plus the companionship and connection that help seniors thrive.

Daily living support

Help with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, meal preparation and light homemaking — tailored to each client’s routine.

Companionship

Conversation, socialization and cognitive stimulation that brighten the day and ease the isolation many seniors feel.

As much, or as little, as needed

A flexible option for those who are otherwise independent — from one afternoon a week to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

When to seek home care services

You may be the sole caregiver for a family member and have been wrestling with the decision to ask for professional help. A nursing home may seem logical, but the emotional toll of leaving a cherished home can be overwhelming for everyone involved.

Research shows that seniors flourish when they remain at home, surrounded by familiar comforts. Deciding on home care is difficult and involves logistics, emotions and cost — so getting advice from a reputable source should be your first step. We’re glad to be that source.

After multiple operations, I haven’t been very mobile around the home. Fortunately, I have amazing caregivers to help me not only around the house, but also with self-care.
